The avenue was planted out with Bambusa Vulgaris a specie of Bamboo which was the largest variety introduced in Jamaica. The avenue is approximately four kilometres long with the tall bamboo forming a canopy over it. (Jamaica National Heritage Trust - www.jnht.com)
