The opening reception of The National Visual Arts Competition & Exhibition 2008 took place on July 13 at the National Gallery of Jamaica. I wrote earlier that it would be very competitive, and it was.

Jamaica produces what is regarded by many as the best coffee in the world, period. If you didn't know that before, now you know! Of the coffee produced in the Jamaica, Blue Mountain coffee, the classification of coffee grown in the high Blue Mountain region of Jamaica is the best.

With one day to go to submit photos to the JCDC National Photography Competition I realize I'm cutting it close. Thankfully my selected photos already got printed and are on rush order at the framers. With the competition rules having changed last year, persons entering now have to be very selective as they only have a maximum of three photos that can be entered.
Last year I was fortunate to have been awarded a silver for the photo, 'Manchioneal Bay 360' below.
This year, my three selections stand as good a chance as I think I'm going to get, so lets see what happens.

It has been about four months now that I have been making prints of my photography available to the public. I must say the response has been wonderful. Sunday the 27th of April was the Liguanea Art festival and I was there sharing a booth with my mother, who paints and is also an art educator.
